New Delhi, Sep 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta is expected to exchange views on Parliamentary practices and share insights on inclusion in his address at the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in South Africa's Cape Town, an official said on Tuesday.
Gupta participated in the opening ceremony of the global Parliamentarians at the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Cape Town and shared his experience on social media.
"Attended the opening ceremony of the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference provides an important platform for exchanging views and experiences on Parliamentary practices and strengthening democratic institutions," the Delhi Assembly Speaker said on social media platform X.
An official statement issued by Gupta's Secretariat in New Delhi said that as part of the proceedings the Delhi Assembly Speaker is set to address delegates during the joint network workshop focused on "Delivering Inclusivity Measures in Capacity Strained Parliaments".
During his address, Speaker Gupta is likely to touch upon issues related to advancing gender sensitivity, disability inclusion, and general Parliamentary accessibility within resource-constrained environments.
The 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) is being hosted by the Parliament of South Africa and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) South Africa Branch in Cape Town from September 13 to 19.
During the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, a number of additional conferences and meetings are being organised in South Africa, a statement said.
These include the 10th Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Conference; 2026 CPA General Assembly and general debate; meetings of the CPA Executive Committee; CPC Workshops; 42nd CPA Small Branches Conference; meetings of the Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities (CPwD) network; 60th Society of Clerks at the Table (SoCATT) meeting; presentation of the 2026 Commonwealth Parliamentarian of the Year awards and the 4th CPA Lifaka Lecture.
The CPA's annual CPC brings together Parliamentarians from across the Commonwealth to discuss global political issues.
More than 900 Parliamentary delegates from the CPA member Parliaments gathered for the opening ceremony of the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) on Monday, an official said.
According to the CPA Secretary-General Stephen Twigg, this year's conference is one of the most attended CPCs in the history of the conference.
It is taking place amid geopolitical uncertainty and an onslaught on rules-based international norms and laws that mediate global affairs.
Twigg noted that this year's theme asks Parliaments not only to debate, but to defend democracy, uphold the rule of law and rebuild trust across borders.
He also highlighted the CPA's transition from its former UK charitable status towards a new international legal status as an inter-parliamentary organisation.
This institutional evolution reinforces Parliamentarians' unique responsibility to uphold democracy, good governance and human rights, a statement said on the website of South African Parliament.
